This releases additional energy in the form of <a href="page.php?w=beta_particle">beta particle</a>s, <a href="page.php?w=antineutrino">antineutrino</a>s, and <a href="page.php?w=gamma_ray">gamma ray</a>s.  Thus, fission events normally result in beta and additional gamma radiation that begins immediately after, even though this radiation is not produced directly by the fission event itself.</p>
