<p>The term Pimería Alta first appeared in Spanish colonial documents (especially produced by those in the <a href="page.php?w=History_of_the_Catholic_Church_in_Mexico">Catholic Church</a>) to designate an ethno-territorial expanse that spanned much of what is now southern Arizona and northern Sonora.
