<p>Feriae ("holidays" in the sense of "holy days") were either public (publicae) or private (<a href="page.php?w=privatus">privatae</a>). State holidays were celebrated by the Roman people and received public funding. Feriae privatae were holidays celebrated in honor of private individuals or by families.</p>
