Early life

Richard Sharpe Shaver was born on October 7, 1907, in Virginia to Grace and Ziba Shaver. He had two sisters, Claire and Isabella, and two brothers, Donald and Taylor.The family moved to Berwick, Pennsylvania, when he was a young child.
