According to <a href="page.php?w=Denis_Diderot">Denis Diderot</a>'s <a href="page.php?w=Encyclop%C3%A9die">Encyclopédie</a>, the style of Royal Highness was created on the insistence of Archduke <a href="page.php?w=Cardinal-Infante_Ferdinand_of_Austria">Ferdinand of Austria</a>, Cardinal-Infante of Spain, a younger son of King <a href="page.php?w=Philip_III_of_Spain">Philip III of Spain</a>.</p><p>
