<p>SIMMs were invented in 1983 by James E. Clayton at <a href="page.php?w=Wang_Laboratories">Wang Laboratories</a> with subsequent patents granted in 1987. Wang Laboratories <a href="page.php?w=RAM_parity">litigated both patents against multiple companies</a>.</p><p>
