The clay alternates with other subordinate lithologies, notably hard red-weathering beds of <a href="page.php?w=ironstone">ironstone</a>, limestone (<a href="page.php?w=Sussex_Marble">Sussex Marble</a>) and sandstones, notably including the calcareous sandstone unit referred to as the <a href="page.php?w=Horsham_Stone">Horsham Stone</a>.</p><p>
