<p>An earlier designation, used by geographers, is "round village" as evidenced by Louis Josserand's article, Les villages ronds du Razès (<a href="page.php?w=Aude">Aude</a>), published in the Revue geographic des Pyrénées et du Sud-Ouest in 1931.</p>
