<p>Mural cells, like <a href="page.php?w=Pericyte">pericytes</a>, are important for how blood vessels work. During the growth of new <a href="page.php?w=Blood_vessel">blood vessels</a> (a process called angiogenesis), pericytes help guide how <a href="page.php?w=endothelial_cells">endothelial cells</a> grow and divide. This process relies on the ability of pericytes to contract.
