<p>The concept of trophic level was developed by <a href="page.php?w=Raymond_Lindeman">Raymond Lindeman</a> (1942), based on the terminology of <a href="page.php?w=August_Thienemann">August Thienemann</a> (1926): "producers", "consumers", and "reducers" (modified to "decomposers" by Lindeman).</p>
