Superiore di Studi Applicati al Commercio (the Royal School of Applied Studies in Commerce) commenced its courses. In 1935, this early nucleus became the fully-fledged Faculty of Economics, together with the Faculty of Agriculture.

At the turn of the century, a branch of the university formed the first nucleus of the Polytechnic under the guidance of Galileo Ferraris.In the same period Giuseppe Peano taught at the Faculty of Sciences.
