<p>A Uniform Type Identifier (UTI) is a method used in <a href="page.php?w=macOS">macOS</a> for uniquely identifying "typed" classes of entities, such as file formats. It was developed by <a href="page.php?w=Apple_Inc.">Apple</a> as a replacement for OSType (type & creator codes).</p>

<p>The UTI is a <a href="page.php?w=Core_Foundation">Core Foundation</a> <a href="page.php?w=string_%28computer_science%29">string</a>, which uses a <a href="page.php?w=reverse-DNS">reverse-DNS</a> string.</p><p>
