<p>Aerobraking converts the spacecraft's <a href="page.php?w=kinetic_energy">kinetic energy</a> into heat, so it requires a <a href="page.php?w=heatshield">heatshield</a> to prevent the craft from burning up. As a result, aerobraking is only helpful in cases where the fuel needed to transport the heatshield</p><p>
