<p>In the early <a href="page.php?w=Byzantine">Byzantine</a> period, the area was renamed to Enotia (Greek: ??????) after a nearby fortress, probably in the vicinity of modern <a href="page.php?w=Notia">Notia</a>. The name was revived between 1915 and 1927 for the Greek province as well.</p>
