<p>Hevelius in March 1672 and finally faded from view late May.</p>

<p>This was the first nova for which there are multiple and reliable observations.  The next nova to be documented as comprehensively was <a href="page.php?w=V841_Ophiuchi">Nova Ophiuchi 1841</a>.</p>

<p>An historical study published in 2025 suggests it's possible that the CK Vul  system may have had a previous classical nova eruption in 1408, that was recorded by Chinese astronomers. </p>
