<p>In ants, the gaster is the site for certain <a href="page.php?w=endoparasites">endoparasites</a> including several species of the <a href="page.php?w=nematode">nematode</a> families <a href="page.php?w=mermithidae">mermithidae</a> and <a href="page.php?w=tetradonematidae">tetradonematidae</a>. Certain mermithidaen that inhabit ant hosts only inhabit a single species or genus while others also target insects other than ants.
