<p>Prior to the use of the micro- prefix, other terms were originally incorporated into the International <a href="page.php?w=metric_system">metric system</a> in 1795, such as <a href="page.php?w=centi-">centi-</a> which represented a factor of 10-2, and <a href="page.php?w=milli-">milli-</a>, which represented a factor of 10-3.</p>
