<p>The <a href="page.php?w=Medieval_Latin">Medieval Latin</a> discifer (<a href="page.php?w=Dish-bearers_and_butlers_in_Anglo-Saxon_England">dish-bearer</a>) was an officer in the household of later Anglo-Saxon kings, and it is sometimes translated by historians as seneschal, although the term was not used in England before the <a href="page.php?w=Norman_Conquest">Norman Conquest</a>.</p>
