Poland formally renounced its sovereignty over the region in the Treaty of Trentschin (1335). For the next 350 years, the increasingly marginalized Piasts occupied a hybrid political space--navigating their identity as biological descendants of the Polish royal house and minor territorial vassals under Bohemian and Habsburg suzerainty, until the death of George William, Duke of Liegnitz, in 1675.
