<p> It remained a niche curiosity until <a href="page.php?w=Wacker_Chemie">Wacker Chemie</a> began developing its eponymous process in 1956.</p>

The overall route exhibited poor thermodynamic efficiency and required great expense.  Esso sought to market waste <a href="page.php?w=Olefin">olefins</a> from a new, under-construction <a href="page.php?w=oil_refinery">oil refinery</a></p><p>
