<p>The English word "conch" is attested in <a href="page.php?w=Middle_English">Middle English</a>, coming from <a href="page.php?w=Latin">Latin</a> <i>concha</i> (shellfish, <a href="page.php?w=mussel">mussel</a>), which in turn comes from Greek  (same meaning) ultimately from <a href="page.php?w=Proto-Indo-European_root">Proto-Indo-European root</a> <i>*konkho-</i>, cognate with Sanskrit word <i>sankha</i>.</p>
