Sound, or <a href="page.php?w=pressure_wave">pressure wave</a>s, are generated by vibrating structures (e.g. <a href="page.php?w=vocal_cords">vocal cords</a>); these pressure waves can also induce the vibration of structures (e.g. <a href="page.php?w=ear_drum">ear drum</a>). Hence, attempts to reduce noise are often related to issues of vibration.</p>
