<p>The works of <a href="page.php?w=Taddeo_Alderotti">Taddeo Alderotti</a> (1223-1296) describe a method for concentrating alcohol involving repeated <a href="page.php?w=fractional_distillation">fractional distillation</a> through a water-cooled still, by which an alcohol purity of 90% could be obtained.</p><p>
