History

Sun Microsystems acquired StarOffice in 1999 and open-sourced the software in July 2000, renaming it OpenOffice.org, and releasing version 1.0 on 1 May 2002. Sun was acquired by Oracle Corporation in January 2010, which renamed the suite Oracle Open Office.
