<p>The foremost elegiac writers of the Roman era were <a href="page.php?w=Catullus">Catullus</a>, <a href="page.php?w=Propertius">Propertius</a>, <a href="page.php?w=Tibullus">Tibullus</a>, and <a href="page.php?w=Ovid">Ovid</a>. Catullus, a generation earlier than the other three, influenced his younger counterparts greatly.
