Medieval period

It is not known how the boundaries of the parish were established. There is no hard evidence for the establishment of a Saxon church, and Ightham was not mentioned in the Domesday Book. The inclusion of the church in the Textus Roffensis in 1122 may reflect an older church as it may be a copy of an earlier Saxon list. The network of parishes has been relatively stable
