<p>Achaemenid style arose rapidly with the very quick growth of the huge empire, which swallowed up the artistic centres of the ancient <a href="page.php?w=Near_East">Near East</a> and much of the Greek world, and mixed influences and artists from these. Although continuing influences from these sources can often be detected the Achaemenids formed a distinct style of their own.</p>
