<p>In the first phase of his career, Piero was influenced by the Netherlandish naturalism of <a href="page.php?w=Hugo_van_der_Goes">Hugo van der Goes</a>, whose <a href="page.php?w=Portinari_Triptych">Portinari Triptych</a> (now at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence) helped to lead the whole of Florentine painting into new channels.
