On 5 January 1902, <a href="page.php?w=Gauhar_Jaan">Gauhar Jaan</a> became the first Indian artist to be recorded. In 1907, a record manufacturing facility was established in <a href="page.php?w=Dum_Dum">Dum Dum</a>, Calcutta -- the first of its kind outside the United Kingdom.</p><p>
