<p>Like many other galliforms, grouse are generally compact, heavily-built birds. True grouse (excluding meleagrids) range in length from 31 to 95 cm, and in weight from 0.3 to 6.5 kg. If the latter are counted, <a href="page.php?w=wild_turkey">wild turkey</a> toms are the largest tetraonids, attaining lengths of 130 cm (50 in) and weighing up to 10 kg (22 lb).
