<p>Phosphatidylcholine is a major constituent of cell membranes and pulmonary <a href="page.php?w=surfactant">surfactant</a>, and is more commonly found in the exoplasmic or outer leaflet of a <a href="page.php?w=cell_membrane">cell membrane</a>.  It is thought to be transported between membranes within the cell by <a href="page.php?w=phosphatidylcholine_transfer_protein">phosphatidylcholine transfer protein</a> (PCTP).</p>
