<p>In c.672/3, <a href="page.php?w=Benedict_Biscop">Benedict Biscop</a> received a land grant from King <a href="page.php?w=Ecgfrith_of_Northumbria">Ecgfrith of Northumbria</a> for the explicit purpose of erecting a monastery. During the construction of his first monastery at <a href="page.php?w=Monkwearmouth">Wearmouth</a>, Biscop appointed Abbot Eosterwini (anglicized as "<a href="page.php?w=Easterwine">Easterwine</a>")</p><p>
