<p>space are called the <em>connected components</em> of the space.The components of a topological space  form a <a href="page.php?w=Partition_of_a_set">partition</a> of&nbsp;: they are <a href="page.php?w=Disjoint_sets">disjoint</a>, non-empty and their union is the whole space. In fact, a connected component is the same as an equivalence class when two points are equivalent if they belong to the same connected subset (see ).</p>
