After the <a href="page.php?w=1883_eruption_of_Krakatoa">1883 eruption of the Krakatoa volcano</a>, weather watchers tracked and mapped the effects on the sky over several years. They labelled the phenomenon the "equatorial smoke stream". In the 1920s Japanese meteorologist <a href="page.php?w=Wasaburo_Oishi">Wasaburo Oishi</a></p><p>
