<p>Pollux was probably the person satirized by <a href="page.php?w=Lucian">Lucian</a> as a worthless and ignorant person who gains a reputation as an orator by sheer effrontery, and pilloried in his Lexiphanes, a satire upon the affectation of obscure and obsolete words.</p>
