<p>In contrast, the Laramide orogeny produced "basement-cored" uplifts that often took advantage of pre-existing faults that formed during <a href="page.php?w=rifting">rifting</a> in the late Precambrian during the breakup of the supercontinent <a href="page.php?w=Rodinia">Rodinia</a> or during the <a href="page.php?w=Ancestral_Rocky_Mountains">Ancestral Rocky Mountains</a> orogeny.</p>
