<p>In 1938, ARC was acquired by the <a href="page.php?w=CBS">Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)</a> under the guidance of chief executive <a href="page.php?w=William_S._Paley">William S. Paley</a>. The company was later renamed Columbia Recording Corporation, and changed again to <a href="page.php?w=Columbia_Records_"> Columbia Record Corporation</a> in 1947.
