<p>After <a href="page.php?w=World_War_II">World War II</a>, Berkeley became a lifelong peace activist and campaigned against nuclear proliferation. In 1958 Berkeley joined the <a href="page.php?w=Committee_for_a_SANE_Nuclear_Policy">Committee for a SANE Nuclear Policy</a> (SANE), and was active in the organization's Boston chapter.</p>
