It has been reported from various types of forest within this region, including evergreen, deciduous, <a href="page.php?w=mangrove">mangrove</a> swamps, <a href="page.php?w=cloud_forest">cloud forest</a>s, and <a href="page.php?w=secondary_forest">secondary forest</a>. Four subspecies of T. mexicana are currently recognised:</p>
