<p>The oldest known archaeological fragments of the immediate precursor to modern paper date to the 2nd century BCE in <a href="page.php?w=China">China</a>. The pulp papermaking process is ascribed to <a href="page.php?w=Cai_Lun">Cai Lun</a>, a 2nd-century CE <a href="page.php?w=Han_Dynasty">Han</a> court <a href="page.php?w=eunuch">eunuch</a>.</p><p>
