of the ceremonial county of Hampshire. After 1894 the district contained only the parish of Ryde. In 1933 the urban district of St Helens was abolished and merged with Ryde, Ryde was also expanded from part of the Isle of Wight Rural District. On 1 April 1974 the district and parish were abolished and became part of Medina non-metropolitan district
