On 27 May 1958, the rebuilt station, Gatwick Airport, opened with a regular train service. Initially, the rail service was provided entirely by standard London to <a href="page.php?w=Brighton_railway_station">Brighton</a> stopping services; however, more trains began to call with the introduction of the summer timetable in June 1958.
