<p>In 1982, the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center's area of responsibility was enlarged to include California, Oregon and Washington, as well as <a href="page.php?w=British_Columbia">British Columbia</a> in Canada, but only for earthquakes in the vicinity of the West Coast.
