<p>Some time after the initial release of a product, manufacturers may choose to increase the <a href="page.php?w=clock_frequency">clock frequency</a> of an <a href="page.php?w=integrated_circuit">integrated circuit</a> for a variety of reasons, ranging from improved yields to more conservative speed ratings (e.g., actual power consumption lower than <a href="page.php?w=Thermal_Design_Power">TDP</a>).
