The infraspinatus is an external rotator of the humerus and often injured through overhead throwing motions and eccentric deceleration of the arm after a throwing motion.  The teres minor is another external rotator, though it is less commonly injured than the infraspinatus it is stressed due to excessive external rotation of the humerus which is common in overhead throwing athletes. The subscapularis is an internal rotator of the humerus, it can be injured in forced external rotation due to overstretching of the muscle.</p><p>
