<p>The "henge" portion has given its name to a class of monuments known as <a href="page.php?w=henge">henge</a>s. Archaeologists define henges as earthworks consisting of a circular banked enclosure with an internal ditch. As often happens in archaeological terminology, this is a holdover from <a href="page.php?w=antiquarian">antiquarian</a></p><p>
