The dialogue Ion suggests that Homer's <a href="page.php?w=Iliad">Iliad</a> functioned in the ancient Greek world as the Bible does today in the modern Christian world: as divinely inspired literary art that can provide moral guidance, if only it can be properly interpreted.</p>
