Most strokes occur without warning, but can be preceded by short-lasting stroke symptoms, known as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Common symptoms include one-sided weakness, facial paralysis or numbness, vision problems, trouble speaking, problems with walking and keeping balanced. A person can show one or more of these symptoms during a stroke. Decreased consciousness is more uncommon
