<p>The North and South Doors are often called Deacons' Doors because the <a href="page.php?w=deacon">deacon</a>s use them frequently. Icons of sainted deacons are often depicted on these doors (particularly <a href="page.php?w=St._Stephen">St. Stephen</a> the <a href="page.php?w=Protomartyr">Protomartyr</a> and <a href="page.php?w=Ephrem_the_Syrian">St. Ephrem the Syrian</a>).</p><p>
