<p>After flowering, most plants have no more use for the calyx, which withers or becomes vestigial, although in a few plants such as <a href="page.php?w=Lodoicea">Lodoicea</a> and <a href="page.php?w=Solanum_melongena">Solanum melongena</a> (aubergine, brinjal) the calyx grows along with the fruit, possibly to protect the attachment point.</p><p>
